13 March 2018 – I woke up to howling winds at 6:30 a.m. The
windows and roof were rattling from the wind. It scared me bad enough I went
out and checked my motorcycle to see that it was still standing, securely
anchored and then came back and went to bed. I added a 2nd support stick /
board for just a little more support against the wind. I didn’t ride today. I
wanted to see how these winds kind of worked. It seems the winds die down
during the night and then pickup about 5:00 a.m. in the morning. Then about
9:00 or 10:00 a.m. the winds die down but don’t go away. Starting about 6:00
p.m. the winds start back up some until dark. That my best scientific wild ass
opinion.
The rest of the day I worked on my blog and searched out
hotels in Rio Grande and Ushuaia, Argentina. I also removed my saddle bags to
see if I could get my motorcycle on the center stand if I need to do that. With
both saddle bags removed and the top box pretty much empty I could get my bike
on the center stand. I was pretty happy about that. It takes two people with
the saddle bags on to get it on the center stand.
I never did get out to eat anything and that didn’t make me
happy. That means I will be pretty much hungry all day tomorrow. I looked out
the window before I went to bed and saw five BMW motorcycles setting in secure
parking all of them caring spare gas containers. I went to bed.
