3 June 2018 – I spent
most of my first day in Los Angeles talking with my brother, his wife
and relaxing. I also called Mary and talked a bit. We set up a date
when she would come out to Los Angeles, CA to visit. She had to work
around her work schedule but we did get a date established, 12 June
2018. She will be arriving at John Wayne Airport. It should be
exciting, I haven’t seen her in almost 9 months. It was also nice
to eat good old American food. I spent a lot of time thinking about
the challenges of shipping my motorcycle back to the U.S. As
difficult as it was to get myself, my visa and my motorcycle into
Brazil, it was as difficult to leave. You know, it’s time to move
on. I must start the process of getting my motorcycle out of the
airport back from Avianca Cargo. Tomorrow I will start making
telephone calls.
4 June 2018 – Today, I
called Interworld Freight. They will be the broker which I will use
to get my motorcycle out of Customs and out of the Avianca Cargo
Warehouse. I received the Customs Power of Attorney form from them. I
filled it out and e-mailed it back to them. I informed them that I
was paying storage fees on my motorcycle and could they please
expedite this process. I also asked them if they had the address for
Avianca Cargo in and around Los Angeles International Airport. While
I was waiting for a reply back, I started searching for their address
on the internet. I found it. I wrote down the address. I didn’t
hear back from Interworld Freight as to the address of Avianca Cargo.
We decided we would drive down to the address I found on the internet
tomorrow. It was too late today as we would get caught up in rush
hour traffic and that’s a hassle.
